MEMO MAY VIOLATE GENEVA CONVENTIONS

The Bush administration has said it is following the Geneva Conventions in Iraq, but a memo prepared by the Justice Department in March authorizes the CIA "to transfer prisoners out of Iraq for interrogation ? a practice that international legal specialists say violates the Geneva Conventions." The CIA reportedly used the memo "as legal support for secretly transporting as many as a dozen prisoners out of Iraq in the past six months," concealing them from the International Red Cross. The memo permits the CIA to take Iraqis out of the country for a "brief but not indefinite period," in possible violation of the Geneva treaty’s prohibition of "[i]individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory … regardless of their motive." On Sunday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) warned the administration needed to stay off the "slippery slope" of skirting the conventions. "The thing that separates us from the enemy is our respect for human rights," he said.

The total disregard for civilized behavior just goes on and on. How anyone can believe this guy is a good leader is just beyond me. You have to be a complete boob.
