Powell Thinks We May Be Losing

According to Newsweek reports, Secretary of State Collin Powell has, in recent weeks, privately confided to friends that the Iraqi insurgents are winning the war. According to a Newsweek article coming out tomorrw, the insurgents have succeeded in infiltrating Iraqi forces "from top to bottom. The comment comes from a senior Iraqi official.

This is not good news for the U.S. Military as they prepare to launch all-out offensives on the insurgent strongholds of Fallujah and Ramadi. U.S. Marines were counting on the newly trained Iraqi forces to assist with the assault. The Newsweek report says that military trainers have been "franticallly trying to assemble sufficient Iraqi troops" to fight with the Marines.

Remember when George got so indignent in the debate when Kerry said there was no "real" coalition? Bush stormed across the stage saying, "Tell that to the Iraqis." Tell them indeed, George, because U.S. Military planners are, "praying that the soldiers perform better than last April, when two battalions of poorly trained Iraqi Army soldiers refused to fight."
