How We Came to Here

In light of the threat’s by certain members of Congress against judges, and given this weekend’s conference pitting "people of faith" against people who believe in the Constitution, I think it might be timely to note the words of a great Indian leader from North America’s past:

How can we have confidence in the white people? When Jesus Christ came upon the earth, you killed him, the son of your own God, you nailed him up! You thought he was dead, but you were mistaken. And only after you thought you killed him did you worship him, and start killing those who would not worship him. What kind of a people is this for us to trust?

I get the feeling maybe a lot of people around the world are asking that question. How did we get from being the friend of opressed and needy around the world, to being disliked by almost everyone, and so divided amongst ourselves?
