Katrina Now Declared A Hurricane

katrina6.gifWell, about 30 minutes ago they officially declared Katrina a minimal hurricane. The latest forecast track has her crossing Florida between Ft. Lauderdale and Naples on the west coast. Once it goes into the Gulf, it will begin to quickly turn north, and re-achieving hurricane status just as it gets west of Tampa.

Because they have it now turning sharply north, around Tampa. That means if it stays a little east, we could be into hurricane force winds. Regardless, because of this pivot around us, we’ll probably be getting flogged and rained on from tomorrow morning through late Sunday to early Monday.

We’re already seeing some cloud bands coming off the storm.

I was not going to completely batton down, but now I guess I’d better, just in case.
