The Optimism of The Child

The following is the 1st place winner from the European Film School. It was directed by Isabel Prahl and produced by Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany. Hugh Downs said, “A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.”

Charles Darwin wrote, “If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin.” And today, in our country, a move is afoot to neuter the social safety net that we worked so hard to develop, to ensure a comfortable place for everyone. In Today’s just-released Census data shows that an additional 3.7 million people fell into poverty last year — a total of 43.6 million people. I don’t know how it is that all the Tea Baggers think this many people just want to lay around on the dole, but rest assured the Republican solution is more for wealthy, and the rest of us are just S.O.L.
