Wayne LaPierre-Douche-Bag of The Day

Let it never be said that NRA Chief, Wayne LaPierre, let a gun massacre go by without encouraging the sell of even more guns. Yes folks, this douche-bag, just a week from the worst gun massacre is out selling the false narrative (debunked here) that this was a terrorist attack, and they are coming for you, so you’d better buy more guns.

In the wake of the massacre at Pulse night club in Orlando, National Rifle Association (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre argued on CBS’s Face The Nation Sunday that American families should arm themselves because terrorists were “on the verge of overwhelming us.”

LaPierre told CBS host John Dickerson that “we all mourn” for victims of the Orlando shooting, “but we face a terrorist challenge where they are on the verge of overwhelming us.” And went on to even denounce the idea that people on the terrorist watch list should be denied guns by saying, it would be “tipping off the bad guy.” Because, he’s got to be sure they get guns, so he can scare the rest of us into buying more guns.

There’s just not a lot to say here. Will stopping the sale of assault rifles stop all gun deaths? No, of course not. Will stopping people on the terrorist watch list from buying any kind of stop all terrorist attacks, no, of course. But statistics, globally, and even in this country, tell us that banning assault weapons, and keeping the number of guns in circulation lower, results in fewer gun deaths.

So what I want someone to ask LaPierre is, at what point does the gun death rate become too high, even for the NRA. I suspect they have no ceiling, but prudence demands the rest of us act.

So, for thinking that high-capacity, rapid-firing, high-powered military grade weapons belong in the hands of anyone, let alone those on the terrorist watch list, we’re going to award our Douche-bag of the day award to Wayne LaPierre, and everyone who’s a member of the NRA. You all have blood on your hands.
