Douche Bag of the Day-Donald Trump

There aren’t many days I couldn’t give Trump this award, so I try to save it for the more egregious occasions (which, again, could be almost daily). He gets it  for his response to the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico. Apparently, he believes they don’t deserve help because they are in debt. (Here’s a mirror Don, how many times have you been bailed out?)

As a matter of fact, speaking of Don being bailed out, the Dumpster defaulted on payments for his bond-funded gold course in Puerto Rico, and left the Puerto Ricans holding the bag for $32.7M. I think he should make a personal contribution to the Puerto Rican relief effort of at least that amount, but then again, I’ve heard of no one seeing that $1M check he pledged to help our Houston.

Anonymous White House sources have now made it clear until this Monday, with the optics growing ever worse for the President, there was NO plan to assisting with relief efforts on the island. Trump’s excuse, “Frankly, we’re doing — and it’s the most difficult job because it’s on the island — it’s on an island in the middle of the ocean. It’s out in the ocean. You can’t just drive your trucks there from other states.” At least he figured that out, and knows what an island is. He did, during the week right after Maria, find plenty of time to be tweeting insults towards NFL players who were exercising their rights of free speech and to petition the government.

And, in fact, he’s not wrong that the logistics are more complex because of that. All the more reason, that with the 10 or more days of warning, a plan wasn’t in place, and ships being dragooned for a relief effort immediately after the storm passed.

The White House itself is mocking the Mayor of San Juan for her pleas for desperately needed help: “She has been invited to FEMA command center several times to see operations and be part of efforts but so far has refused to come, maybe too busy doing TV?”

It is beyond infuriating to hear the White House take cheap potshots at Mayor Cruz, who, for the record, has worked around the clock to personally direct the relief efforts while the President enjoys himself at his golf course for the 66th time in nine months of office. Is it racism? I’m not sure, but there is the old saying about, “if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s likely a duck.” It is also possible that Donald Trump doesn’t actually know Puerto Rico is an American territory, and the people living there are American Citizens. He is just that stupid.
