Blog Upgrades »

I ran through the upgrade process on my Mother’s blog. That went very well, but I was holding my breath as I upgraded the Deep Something blog. It is a significantly more complex site. However, the upgrade went very smoothly. There are one or two minor problems that will have to be corrected. I think I know how to resolve these fairly quickly tomorrow. There is a file uploader that I use for the photo gallery that isn’t working, so I’ll have to do some research on that. There is an option to it using the Flickr photo system, and there are plugins for that too.

A Fare Fair Weekend »

While I posted movie reviews (Date Movie, The Pink Panther), there has not been much else posted lately. I had a pretty bad couple of days related to work and my profession at the end of last week. I have also been busy with work, and the social calendar has been pretty full.

Why Dogs Don’t Live As Long As People »

“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The four-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Did Martin Luther King’s Dream End On A Jetway In Miami? »

On this weekend, when we celebrate the birth and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it would be well to remember that King dreamed of something very different for America. King dreamed of an America inspired, if not by love, then at least by justice.

A Christmas Wish For You »

?We have heard a lot about “saving Christmas” during the last couple of Decembers. With people whipped into a frenzy by right wing pundits, it has become all the rage among certain branches of Christianity to protest by boycotting any retailer who makes mention of “Happy Holidays” or to sue local governments who balk at manger scenes on the town square. All this is apparently done for the purpose of reminding America of the “true meaning” of Christmas. But boycotts and lawsuits are hardly the substance of the Christmas season, as anyone with only a passing familiarity with the Gospels will no doubt attest.?

What Democrats Stand For »

What do Democrats stand for? It seems a common refrain, or assumption, that Democrats do not have an overall theme or narrative, and I will certainly agree that the party as a whole does a rather bad job of articulating the message. But it lodged in my brain, and after a half hour of thought I realized that I, at least, know what I stand for. And it’s not complicated.

The Great Frog Hunt »

For some reason, starting this Spring, we had an extended family of some sort of tree frog move into the backyard. I’m assuming they’re tree frogs because they climb, and hang out in higher places during the day. At night, they come out to swim in the pool, lay their eggs, and boy do they make some serious noise. Its enough to sometimes wake you up and when asleep, and I’ve had to turn up the TV to cover their noise.

My Christmas Wish for You »

Christmas and even the more secular celebrations from which many of our traditions arise, is also about the coming of light into the world. At time when our days are the shortest, and the weather the coldest, there comes the warmth of family and friends, the security of our traditions, and the light of love.

Giving Thanks In 2004 »

This is obviously the time set aside to contemplate the ?bounty? we?ve been provided. While this has probably not been my best year, it certainly has not been the worst year. I have been blessed throughout the year, and have so much more than so many.
