We went again to San Francisco two weekends ago for the Gay Men’s Chorus Concert, Tales of Our City, which included Armisted Maupin speaking about his adventures in San Francisco in 70s, 80s, and 90s, and his remembrances of people like Harvey Milk and other gay leaders of the time.

Lay has always wanted to move there since our first visit, but now he doesn’t. I was warm and not so crowed (other visits have been for Pride), so he saw kind of the real grind of day-to-day life there with the urine smell, poop in the doorways in the mornings, and the drugs on the street.

We went to San Francisco in June during Pride Weekend, and it was an adventure. Best time for me was getting to, for the second time, hear the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. This performance was “Harvey Milk 2013” featuring the world premier of I am Harvey Milk. It was spectacular.

Yes, I know I’ve been slack about getting them posted, but here they are.

I had occasion to hear the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus several times when I lived in Dayton. In fact, it seemed their Christmas Concert and that of the Cincinnati Gay Men’s Chorus were often the same weekend, so I’d do Cincinnati Saturday evening, and then go to Columbus for their Sunday afternoon concert. Both were excellent choruses, and they both had very different styles, so it was a great fun.

Here the Columbus Chorus provides a youtube for the “It Gets Better Project” with the Columbus Youth Choir. I’ll just let the music speak for itself.
