Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCI’m guessing it wouldn’t be hard to find a reason to just give this award to Tony just about everyday, but it is only fair to spread the love around. Sometimes though, you just have to go with it. So, for blaming the Orlando Massacre on Obama, and Islamic Terrorism, we are proud to announce that today’s Daily Douche-Bag Award goes to Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (FRC).

Just to be clear, I like to remind folks that the FRC was founded by Perkins and Jame Dobson (Dobson provided most of the seed money), after Perkins illegally used funds from a campaign he managed (he was convicted of this) to buy a mailing list from KKK Grand Wizard, David Duke. In the early days, Perkins was a frequent speaker at meetings of White Supremacist groups. There are pictures with the Confederate Flag right there in the background. And, the SPLC has designated the FRC a Hate Group.

But, on to Perkins latest shenanigans. On Monday, he issued a press release claiming:

Unfortunately, the attacks on U.S. soil have only grown in this administration’s refusal to call them what they are — Islamic terrorism. The gunman, a homegrown extremist who reportedly pledged his allegiance to ISIS before his bloody rampage, left little doubt about his motivation — a motivation the president still refuses to confront.

Of course, we know that to be false. The guy doing the shooting wasn’t even religious enough to know which branch of Islam he was fighting for. He basically pledged allegiance to two diametrically opposed groups, Shi’a Hezbollah and Sunni ISIS. It also turns out he was mostly just a closeted homosexual, exhibiting the worst of the things that manifest themselves when one does that. The only thing different is that he could easily and legally get a high-capacity, rapid-firing military grade gun to go along with his internal rage. Are there radical Islamists who would like to do us harm? Certainly. But this guy wasn’t one of them, so why would the President say he was? Oh right, because Tony needs an enemy, and it’s getting harder to use gay people for that.

Perkins’ press release goes on to claim:

Perhaps the saddest irony of all is that this is a conflict of the president’s own making. By coddling and promoting Islam, the Obama administration has created an environment where people who identify as gay, lesbian, or transgendered are increasingly vulnerable. “If I were a member of the LGBT community,” Leon Wolf wrote on RedState, “I would be watching the Left with an extremely jaundiced eye from this day forward.

Uh yeah, and I’ve got some good solid dry land down in South Florida to sell you too. Democrats and Obama are creating an environment where LGBT people aren’t safe. Oh Tony, Ms Perkins, please see “North Carolina Republican Controlled General Assembly and HB2.” Also be sure to check out the latest hits of Pam “Barbie” Bondi-Trump, and Rick “I don’t Recall” Scott.

So, for his bold lies and misdirection, Tony Perkins is our Douche-Bag of the Day.

Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCIt pretty much goes without saying that, if Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council (FRC) is talking, he is mostly likely telling a lie. There may be no other group that spends more time perfecting the art of lying for Jesus than the FRC.

Having lost the marriage-equality fight, they need a new demon to keep the dollars flowing in (grifters gotta grift), so Perkins is now after Muslims. Before I get to the specifics about that, let’s be clear about Perkins’ background and the beginnings of the Family Research Council. Working as a campaign aid to some politician in Louisiana, Perkins illegally (and yes, he was convicted) purchased a mailing list, using campaign funds, of white supremacists from KKK Grand Dragon, David Duke. That mailing list was the mailing list used to start the FRC. In addition, Perkins, in the past, was a frequent speaker at meetings of white supremacists groups. So, I think that makes it pretty clear where he stands on people of races who are not “white.” (This is also the same group that gave Josh Duggar a high profile position.) Continue reading »

Dear Frankie:

It’s time we had a little talk, you and me. I know this whole idea that gay people (and all the LBT rest of them) might be starting to get some equal rights bothers you tremendously. I can’t figure out any sort of leap of logic that makes this such a big issue for you, unless, of course it somehow affects you directly.

It won’t affect your ministry. You’re still free to pray to whichever god/s or goddess/es you’d like, in whatever way you choose, and when you’d like. You can attend whatever church, temple, mosque, or other holy place you want on whatever day you choose. You can crawl into the pulpit of that holy place and say whatever awful and ugly things you want to say about your LGBT brothers and sisters, and any misogynistic thing you want about women. Even free to do some poverty shaming too. Yep, still free to do all that.

You “ministry” still gets to hire and fire whoever it wants, based on whatever criteria you select, because it is a religious organization.

The ability of gay people to marry really doesn’t have any impact on the ability of straight people to marry, but I know you already know that…you just can’t some up with a better argument. Gay people marrying doesn’t really affect your marriage, as best I can tell, unless you want it to. Like if you’ve just been waiting all this time to come out  once you can marry whoever you’re sleeping with on the down-low. I just don’t know how it negatively impacts your life, so that’s the only conclusion I can come to. The idea of gay sex and marriage is so appealing to you, that if normalized, you think every straight man, you included, will convert. (If that happens Frank, you let me know. That could be a problem, so I’ll help you work out a solution.) Continue reading »

An Open Letter to Anti-Gay “Christians”

Ron BaityUnfortunately, as gay people are less afraid to hide in a stifling closet, and are demanding that they be accorded the same rights as every other American, the heads of the leaders of the evangelical branch of the christian right are exploding. They are ratcheting up the rhetoric to a disturbing level, and some of their language is most certainly designed to evoke a violent response by unstable people who follow them. So, I’d like to drop them a note.

Dear Krazy Kristian Kooks:

You all have been consistently trying to claim that the right for equal treatment of LGBT people is not the same as the civil rights movement. You support this primarily by trying to claim the difference is that homosexuality is a choice and not an immutable characteristic. (An interesting position for you to take, given that you are protected based on their religious beliefs…but more on that in a minute.)

First, let’s just stop with the, “it’s a choice” meme. It’s not, and every reputable psychiatric and psychological organization says it’s not. The only people clinging to it are you so-called “christians.” The next time you want to use this argument, ask yourself this: “If it is a choice, that means I could wake up tomorrow morning, and simply decide to be gay/lesbian (whatever is appropriate) and be attracted to men/women. So that’s what I’m saying.” And, oh, by the way, when was it you DECIDED to be straight? Continue reading »

Kelvin Cochran, Former Atlanta Fire Chief

Kelvin Cochran, Former Atlanta Fire Chief

The story is based on a recent action by the City of Atlanta in which they fired Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran for the publication of a religiously themed book, and how it was distributed within the department. The book included some pretty strong anti-gay comments, so of course the main characters in anti-gay, inc. are all grifting on Cochran’s martyrdom. I’d like to offer some reminders to these staunch defenders of “free speech.”

Let’s lay out the facts of the case (and not the overwrought screeching of the ‘phobes). First, as part of taking an executive level job with the City, Mr. Cochran had to agree to and sign a work agreement. One requirement imposed by the work agreement was that Cochran (like anyone else in a similar position) had to get the City’s permission for anything he might publish. This is not at all unusual. Cochran didn’t bother to get this approval.

The grifters have tried to make the claim it was all innocent, as the book was written for a bible study group in his church (in one explanation), or, was just given to a couple of friends who asked for it. Actually, it was given out by Cochran to several of his subordinates in the fire department. Let me remind you, he was the Chief, therefore had direct influence over the employment status of these people. This just isn’t acceptable in any work environment, let alone in the public sector. Judge James Roberson

Alamance County Chief Judge James Roberson

Unfortunately there are some magistrates in North Carolina who don’t understand about doing their jobs. a magistrate judge in Pasquotank County on Monday refused to marry two men, citing religious objections. Some magistrates in Alamance County also said they wouldn’t marry gay couples.

I am flummoxed by Chief District Court Judge Jim Roberson of Alamance County who said that some of the 11 magistrates under his supervision didn’t want to officiate same-sex marriage ceremonies. “As a team, we’re going to abide by the law,” Roberson told the Times-News of Burlington. “Some of our magistrates have concerns based on their faiths and religious beliefs. I completely respect that. Other magistrates do not.” Roberson said a magistrate comfortable with performing the ceremony would step in if another declined.

“I highly respect people’s legitimate, deep-seated, consciously held religious beliefs. I also highly respect people’s individual rights. Trying to balance those two is where my goal is right now,” Roberson said Wednesday, “finding that balance where we can assure the public the law will be followed and marriage ceremonies will be performed as requested.”

Well, let’s just be straight up about this. BULLSHIT. Here’s part of what I wrote in a fax to Judge Roberson: Continue reading »

We’re going to give Tony Perkins our Daily Douche award two days in a row. On Sunday, he appeared on the usually friendly Faux News Sunday to discuss the evils of marriage equality. Unfortunately, Ms. Perkins brought her pen knife intellect to a gun fight with a constitutional law heavy weight, Ted Olson, a Republican lawyer and gay marriage advocate. Hilarity ensues.

Heck, Perkins even got taken the wood shed by Fox News’ host Chris Wallace. Perkins starts with his usual, think of the children meme with “Marriage is not to affirm adults, it’s for the protection of children, and if love is the only factor, where do you draw the boundaries?”

Perkins continued to harp on the “natural established boundaries for marriage.”

“What are you suggesting? That there’s going to by polygamy, that people are going to be marrying their aunt, their pets?” Wallace asked.

“I didn’t say that,” Perkins responded, again bringing up “boundaries.”

“Alright, you and your wife live happily in this house. There’s a same-sex couple living here. What’s the damage to you?” Wallace then asked.

Perkins replied by bringing up wedding vendors put out of business by refusing to serve gay couples.

“It’s a different issue,” Wallace retorted. Watch the Video below: Continue reading »

Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCWell, Tony Perkins of the SPLC designated hate group, Family Research Council, just can’t seem to say three words without two of them being lies. And naturally, with all the news lately about marriage equality, he’s been saying lots of words. As usual, anyone business owner who wants to discriminate against LGBT people in violation of local non-discrimination laws is a hero to Tony, but he knows that being honest about it wouldn’t get him anywhere, so he lies.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission announced last week that Hands on Originals, a T-shirt company based in Lexington, Kentucky, discriminated against the Gay and Lesbian Services Organization of Lexington when it refused to print the shirts. Well you can bet that Ms Perkins got his knickers all in a wad over that one, and here’s his statement:

“Just because a company sells to the public doesn’t mean it has to surrender its private views. Even for a t-shirt company, there’s no one-size-fits all approach to managing a business. Like any shop, Hands On has the freedom to establish its own criteria of conduct and conscience. Blaine Adamson, the devout believer who runs Hands On Originals, was stunned. After all, there was no malice in the family’s decision — who politely declined to print t-shirts with a rainbow message that contradicted their faith. Unfortunately for the Left, the Constitution doesn’t award its rights on the basis of political correctness. And until that changes, the Adamsons have as much freedom to reject homosexuality as his customers do to endorse it. While their attorneys at ADF fight on, Hands On’s story is an interesting backdrop to a week full of marriage news. Thanks to the Supreme Court, Christians will be exposed to more attacks of this nature. By refusing to step in and protect state marriage amendments, the Left will have even greater latitude to punish people who morally object to the homosexual agenda.”

Difference Between Free Speech and Consequences of Speech

Yes, I know, I’ve been absent for a  while. I have written constantly for work lately, so it’s hard to get in the mood to write more during my down time. But, those of you who know me, know I have opinions on lots of things, so I’m itching for some discussion.

Benham BrothersToday’s topic is a recent controversy related a pair of twin brothers from Charlotte, David and Jason Benham. The Benham brothers made a small fortune flipping homes, and were recently working on a HGTV show. What HGTV didn’t bother to find out was that the brothers have a particularly nasty streak when it comes to gays, abortion rights, and Muslims. When that came to light, that was the end of the show, and the beginning of their cries of persecution…because you know, the Constitution guarantees one the right to a TV show.

So let’s dissemble what went on here. The brothers are, from most perspectives, a made for TV set. They’re young and somewhat handsome. There are two of them (identical twins). They claim to be family oriented, wholesome and Christian, claiming all these missionary activities (more on that later). They’ve been successful flipping homes, and the premise of the show, called “Flipping it Forward,” (apparently in a nod to their “minister” father Flip Benham) which was to help people get in a home who might not otherwise be able to afford said home. Sounds like a noble project.

But, here’s where the problems begin, and like most problems, they begin at home. The twins’ father, as noted above, is Flip Benham. Papa Benham heads the militant anti-reproductive rights group, Operation Rescue. He splintered from that group to start Operation Save. Continue reading »

Ms Perkin’s Kickers are in a Bunch over Kentucky

Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCTony Perkins (who has often been a speaker at white supremacist meetings) of the Family Research Council (FRC-which got it’s start with a KKK mailing list, and is an SPLC designated hate group), is upset that a judge in Kentucky has apparently that the equal protection clause of the Constitution really does apply in Kentucky, and actually even requires that LGBT people be included in those protections. Oh, and once you meet Ms Perkins, you’ll know why I am prone to refer to him in the feminine.

Here’s what he had to say today after Judge John G. Heyburn said that Kentucky’s Constitutional ban prohibiting recognition of same-sex marriages that might be performed in other states where legal, was unconstitutional:

“This ruling is another example of the deep betrayal of a judicial system infected with activist judges who are legislating from the bench. If these judges want to change duly enacted laws passed by the people and their representatives, they should resign their life-time appointments to the bench and run for the state legislature or Congress. Judge Heyburn is elevating his own ideology over that of three-quarters of Kentucky voters who voted to preserve marriage in their constitution as it has always been defined. This ruling comes at a time when the consequences of marriage redefinition are mounting. Increasingly, Americans are being forced to finance and celebrate unions that not only step on free speech and religious liberty but also deny children a mom and a dad. Rather than live-and-let-live, this court by redefining marriage will create a level of inequality that has never been seen in our country as people are forced to suppress or violate the basic teachings of their faith.”

Let’s take the old girl’s statement apart just a little, shall we: Continue reading »

Family Research Council Apparently Calls for a Draft

Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCWe’re going to start keeping a close eye on Tony Perkins, head of the SPLC Designated hate group, Family Research Council (FRC), and friend of White Supremacist, David Duke. Perkins is becoming more and more unhinged as gay rights continue the long arc of history towards full equality, and a black man continues as President.

Here’s his latest talking point:

It seems to me Tony’s concerned that we will be drafting women into military service. Since we Don’t currently have a military draft in this country, one can only assume that our good friend Tony here is in favor of re-instituting a military draft.

So, just to be clear, Tony Perkins of the FRC is calling for a new military draft.

Oh, but I would like to remind Tony, the President alone doesn’t have the power to do that. It would take an act of Congress, and that would include his Republican-run House. So, since he sees a new draft in our future, he obviously hates the Republicans in the House.
