Where's All Our Stuff, Dick
According to a Bloomberg story, Haliburton (You remember them, Dick Cheney’s old company that got an $87B no-bid contract that Dick had nothing to do with?) has apparently lost $18.6 million in government property. This constitutes about a third of the property assigned to them.
Government auditors couldn’t account for 6,975 of 20,531 items on the ledgers of Halliburton’s Kellogg Brown & Root unit, according to a report by Stuart Bowen, auditor for the coalition provisional authority inspector general, which oversees contractors. Halliburton is providing services to U.S. troops under a contract that has generated $3.2 billion in revenue so far.
Ah, what the hell, Bush can just give his fat cat friends another tax break, and squeeze the rest of us a little more. We’ve gotta keep the money rolling into Haliburton. I’m sure Dick (and probably George too) have a nice Board position waiting on them once they are out of government. We can only hope its soon.
