Another Small Miracle
Early this morning, I had to run a quick errand. As I was backing out of the driveway, the sun glimmered off some fine water droplets on a strand of spider web.
So what’s so miraculous about a spider web? Well, it reached from the ground to a tree branch that must have been at least 20 feet up. Now, I know the spider could have dropped straight down by hanging on the web strand as he produced it, but this one was at an angle. So how’d the spider do that? Did you know that companies are trying to produce synthetic spider thread. Pound for pound, it has greater tensil strength than Kevlar. If they could produce enough of it, they could build incredibly strong and lite airplanes out of the stuff.
I’ve written before about how I think miracles are the really small things in nature. The things we so often miss and don’t ponder. I just thought it was cool that during the evening, this spider was able to produce this very long strand, and pull it to where he needed it.
