Casa Mexicana Bar and Grill – Restaurant Review

Casa Mexicana Bar and Grill
3642 W. Gandy Blvd, #B
Tampa, FL

We finally gave this place a try Friday evening. We were a bit on the early side, so it wasn’t at all crowded. There was one other table when we came in, and a couple tables by the time we left. They had a guy playing guitar and singing, and he was actually pretty good.

We started with the usual chips and dip. The chips were fresh, but the dip was a bit thin and lacked tomatoes and onions. I had Chicken Chimichangas. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The beans were quite good, and the chimichangas were properly fried. Lay had Carnitas, and though they appeared to be over-cooked, they were flavorful and moist. He also really liked the hot sauce they served on request.

The service was pleasant and prompt, but of course, they weren’t busy. However, I’d rate them pretty high on that scale. The only issue we really had was we thought that, for the price, the portions, while adequate were a bit small, and overall just a little overpriced. They do offer a $7.99 lunch menu and $1.50 tacos on Tuesdays. I suspect they are busier then. The restaurant was very clean.

Overall, we will definitely go back from time to time, but because of the pricing, it probably won’t make it into our regular rotation.
