Hybrid Standup Desk
Some of you may know I had a bit of DVT scare (deep vein thrombosis) over Labor Day weekend, and spent 5 hours that Monday in the ER waiting on an ultra-sound. While there wasn’t a clot, it scared me enough to think about how much I sit at the desk and the problems that causes.
I know a popular thing now are these standup desks, and there are regular TV advertisements for a big thing that will life your monitor, keyboard, etc. when you want to stand at your desk. My desk isn’t really amenable to that big thing, and it looks more like it’s in the way than anything else, but I knew I needed to do something.
The monitor already sits a little high on my desk, and I tested it standing up and viewing it. With just a bit of tip back, it is a pretty good angle for standing. So, I just needed to elevate my wireless keyboard and mouse. I started looking on Amazon, and found a small adjustable height table on rollers, and first thought that was a good solution, and I suspect it would be. But then I found this “Laptop Desk.” I think it is designed mostly for working while in bed or sitting in a lounge chair or something, I thought I might be able to use it for my hybrid version of a standing desk.
It is light, and I can easily take it down and put it under my desk when I want to sit. When I want to stand, I bring it out and put it on the keyboard tray on the desk, and can stand and work comfortably. In fact, I’m standing here typing this blog post. It was only about $20. It seems fairly stable, and hsa a mouse tray that clips on either side. It is easy to make the adjustments, but it took a few minutes to find the right combinations to keep it balanced, while still getting it to the perfect height. I’m very pleased with the solution so far.
Here are a couple of photos with it in place on the desk.
I just bought a similar item for myself yesterday. I’ll let you know how it works when I get it :)
You might want to thank GOD for helping you out with that little problem!!!
God didn’t sweetie…turned out to not be a problem. What helped though were a bunch of doctors and nurses and technicians, not to mention the person who invented the ultrasound machine.Read more…
Wow, ive struck a nerve, obviously the only thing that can help you is prayer, so that’s what I’ll do. You can keep the rest of your commentary to yourself along with your two followers on MY page.. I have no use for your ignorance!!
I think the only nerve that was struck was YOURS. Then again, Cafeteria Christians have always been known for projection.
If ya can’t handle the heat, stay out of the argument. Simple as.

John Masters That is a very Deist perspective. I roughly describe myself as a Christian Deist so I concur. The problem is that those that believe in a Theist perspective with an introventional type God are forcing people to Atheism.Read more…
BJohn, are you doing okay now? Please take care of yourself…
He’s still voting hitlery, so his blood supply hasn’t returned to his brain yet. But, we still love him.
Well, he’s still voting for hitlery, so we know his blood supply hasn’t returned to his brain. But, we love him anyway. (watch him delete and then deny….kinda like hitlery)
Ah, yes. Keep at it.
You all want us to tolerate your bullshit, but you haven’t earned our respect.
Thank you Cody Reed. I don’t need your respect….and no one is talking to you. John and I have absolute respect for one another. I’d actually call it love.
Geez…have you even told John Masters you have a crush on him yet? Just saying..Read more…
