Florida’s DCF At It Again (Stupid Is As Stupid Does)
Well, the chief arbiters of life and death here in Florida are at it again. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) [ah, you’ll remember them, this is agency that doesn’t have enough "resources" to be able to keep up with all the children in their charge, but who do have enough resources to try to deny Terri Shaivo her legal rights] has spent time and resources unsuccessfully (thank God for those activist, liberal justices) attempting to keep a 13 year old girl in their care from having an abortion.
Now, let’s see. She’s supposed to be under the care of DCF, but got pregnant…ringing endorsement all ’round for DCF. If that weren’t enough though, get a load of their reasoning for attempting to prevent this girl from having the abortion. The department had argued that the girl was too young and immature to decide for herself to have an abortion. The agency said state law prohibited the agency from consenting to the procedure. Now, let’s see if I am understanding this correctly. A 13 year old is too young and immature to decide to get an abortion, but obviously not too young and immature to have a baby. OKAY, WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING! (Sorry, could not think of nicer way to say it…stupid just doesn’t even seem to come close)
Marilyn Munoz, Department Spokesperson says, ”We are working for the best interest of the young girl.” Uh, cause it is certainly in the best interests of a 13 year old child to have a bady…no real harm in that.
And gosh darn it, I’m sure the Governor’s pro-life agenda had nothing to do with DCF’s determination of what is in the best interest of the child. ”It’s a tragedy that a 13-year-old girl would be in a vulnerable position where she could be made pregnant and it’s a tragedy that her baby will be lost,” Bush said in Tallahassee.
