Another Update On The Call To Methodist Bishops
This email arrived a few minutes ago from the Bishop of Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church:
Dear Mr. Masters,
I have received your email in the matter of torture. You have not been pestering me with your calls for social justice. You have been very respectful and quite to the point and I appreciate it. I believe you would want to see the resolution that the Va. Conference of the UMC passed last week in regard to ending abuse of prisoners and torture. It speaks to the points you have raised. Along with other bishops, I have already written our President and raised my voice in other appropriate ecumenical settings to raise questions and to protest our policies and treatment of prisoners, both in Guantanomo Bay, Abu Graib, and beyond. Thank you for your advocacy and your compassion.
Blessings on you,
Bishop Charlene Kammerer
