Projection Much

Tony Perkins, head of SPLC designated Hate Group, The FRCFriend of David Duke and the KKK, Tony Perkins, head of the SPLC designated hate group, The Family Research Council (FRC) has released maybe one of the most stupid press releases I’ve ever seen.

“Desperate times apparently call for desperate ads. That’s the only way to explain the President’s sorry excuse for a get-out-the-vote video–which has all the class of a rest stop bathroom stall. With help from Lena Dunham, star of HBO’s sleazy Girls, the ad compares voting for Obama with losing your virginity. It’s low brow even for this White House, which seems to think using expletives to describe your opponent is conduct becoming a U.S. President. ‘Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody,’ Lena coos in an spot eerily similar to Vladimir Putin’s. ‘You want to do it with a great guy, somebody who really cares about and understands women… My first time voting was amazing… Before I was a girl. Now I was a woman. I went to the polling station, behind the polling curtain, I voted for Barack Obama.’ Frankly, I’m surprised it ended with ‘Paid for by Obama for America’ and not ‘For a good time, call the White House switchboard.’ And liberals wonder why women are turned off! After an entire campaign built on ‘lady parts,’ more women are waking up to the contempt Democrats have for them.”

First, if you’re not aware, this is the ad to which Ms. Perkins has his knickers all in a bunch about (yes, the use of Ms. Perkins is intentional…you can’t watch this big ol’ girl for more than a minute to figure out on which side his toast is buttered).

I thought it was a good ad, and if it’s got Tony all in a snit, it must actually be great. But there are three comments in Ms. Perkins’ rant that need to be called out. First off is his reference to rest stop restrooms, “the President’s sorry excuse for a get-out-the-vote video–which has all the class of a rest stop bathroom stall…” Well, let’s just say, if anyone knows a thing or two about rest stop bathroom stalls, it would be Ms. Perkins. In fact, this is the only thing I can think of on which Perkins might rightly be classified an expert.

He calls her comments sleazy and low brow…well, Tony, Dunham’s intimation was no more salacious than Reagan’s on voting Republican “…I can tell you it only hurts for a minute, and then it feels great”. And that sleaze from their idol.

But the real kicker comes near the end of his rant. “And liberals wonder why women are turned off! After an entire campaign built on ‘lady parts,’ more women are waking up to the contempt Democrats have for them.” This is the classic Karl Rove tactic. Accuse the other side of exactly what you are guilty of doing.

Seriously, we have Republican Congressional candidates across the country trying to legitimize rape, totally eliminate a woman’s right to choose, and blame women for all the social ills for which they’re not blaming gays. And make no mistake, even VP candidate, Paul Ryan, has clearly stated his wish for outlawing abortions with no exceptions. In fact, I think the Republican Party is focus group testing replacing the word “rapist” with “givers of gifts from God.”

Honest to God, I fail to see how any person with an IQ above about 25 could vote Republican in this day and age.
