Read moreWhile I posted movie reviews (Date Movie, The Pink Panther), there has not been much else posted lately. I had a pretty bad couple of days related to work and my profession at the end of last week. I have also been busy with work, and the social calendar has been pretty full.
Read moreFamed homophobic bigot and all around sex-obsessed Hillsborough County Commissioner Rhonda Storms has called for a referendum on nudity. I can’t tell if she wants more of it or less, but having seen her ass in a pair of pants…I’m hoping less. In keeping with her past MO, she sprung this on the other Commissioners without warning.
Read moreAccording to a report in the Tampa Tribune, a man suspected of stealing four Salvation Army Kettles (and trying to steal a couple others), may be the dead driver of a stolen Buick found overturned in four feet of brackish water in West Tampa. While I don’t wish this fate on anyone, and take no glee in this guy’s death, it would seem to karma balancing out the world.

Read moreWell, as I noted in the update last night, it started raining about 7PM, and has been pretty steady since then, with some strong rains at various times. I’m guessing we’ve had less than 4 inches of rain. The wind didn’t start until right at 3AM, and while it has been gusty at times, I’ve seen it just as bad during some of our thunderstorms.

Read moreI thought I would provide an update on Hurricane Wilma based on the most recent NOAA information. How much impact there is on Tampa remains a bit uncertain. Not unusually, with about two days to go before landfall, the “cone of uncertainty” is still a bit large.
Read moreTampa has, once again, completely dodged the bullet of Katrina, but it’s pretty clear that the coast lines of Louisiana and Mississippi are not going to be so lucky. In fact, due to the sweeping path of this storm, its had a lot of time over very warm gulf waters, and increased to an incredible strength.
Read moreWell, about 30 minutes ago they officially declared Katrina a minimal hurricane. The latest forecast track has her crossing Florida between Ft. Lauderdale and Naples on the west coast. Once it goes into the Gulf, it will begin to quickly turn north, and re-achieving hurricane status just as it gets west of Tampa.
