Busy Weekend

This past weekend was rather busy around this household. The biggest event was Sunday when we had our niece’s 4th birthday party here at the house. Our two niece’s both love to swim, and they are like Energizer Bunnies. They just keep going and going.

That was about all that was important to her, but I did her a cute piñata shaped like a crown.  We had watermelon and ribs and lots of other food. (Click to see the photos)

Of course a lot of time was spent Saturday getting the house and yard cleaned up and ready, and everything ready. I didn’t want to be rushing around Sunday.

[callout title=Let There Be Peace On Earth]Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step i take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let ther be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.[/callout]

Saturday night we attended the Una Voce Florida Men’s Chorale concert. The concert title was “Harmonia Mundi” or music of the world. There were some very nice pieces including one world premier of commissioned piece. I have to say that every selection was well performed, and soloists and accompanist (Piano, Flute, Cello) were all spot on. This was one of four concerts (two here and one in St. Pete and one in Clearwater). There was a decent crowd here, but that church should have been packed. This is definitely an under-appreciated resource in our community.

I took a not so great video of the last number, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” and now I catch myself walking around humming the tune. Right around the 1 minute mark, the cello comes in. It’s harder to hear on my phone video, but it was quite pretty. (I wish I could play cello.)

After the concert, we went over and picked up the nephews to spend the night. Whew! As soon as everyone left Sunday and all the trash was stashed, I sat down in my favorite chair, and was out light like a light for about two hours. However, it was all great fun.
