Rumsfeld in Bushword
Last week say SecDef Rummy got challenged a little by some of the screwed over Guardsmen. I guess the Guardsmen figured he had nothing to lose. What’s the worse that could happen, he might get sent home instead of Iraq. (Please don’t throw me in that briar patch.)
Of course Rummy has the pithy comeback of, "you go to war with the army you have…" Certainly a valid statement when this country is attacked by surprise, a la Pearl Harbor. But the folks in Bushworld had a couple of years to get ready. Turns out the company that supplies the armor kits had the capacity to build more, but they weren’t ordered. (And let’s see, it was John Kerry not supporting the troops and giving them what they wanted?)
Rumsfeld callously attempted to diminish Guardsman’s question, saying, "if you think about it, you can have all the armor in the world on a tank and a tank can still be blown up. And you can have an up-armored Humvee and it can be blown up." Of course, Rummy makes sure he travels around in armoured vehicle. I wonder why, since they are so useless. I say, lets take away Rummy’s armoured vehicles and give them to the troops, and let him drive around in a standard sedan. Think he’d go for that?
In Bushworld, not ordering armour is seen as supporting the troops because even with armour, you can still get your ass blown off.
