Read moreIt appears that folks at the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), Maggie Gallagher’s personal hate group, is collecting stories of town/county clerks from around New York State who feel put-upon for having to follow the state’s law that all couples are equal under the State’s Marriage laws. As they collect their videos of the horrible (horrible I say) persecution caused these people being expected to do their civil duties under state law as Agents of The State, we’ll look at them under the light of a Constitutional Republic which is ruled by law, not religion.
Read moreSo this GOP State Senator James Forrester who is supposedly a medical doctor (fortunately the sick in his town he’s retired). The batshittery is beyond belief and goes on and on as this blow hard is caught in lie after lie as he tries to conceal the animous on which the anti-gay hate bill was based. He was the primary sponsor. I warn you, the blatant idocy could make you want to puncture your ear drums.
Read moreWell, Christmas 2010 has come and gone. Nothing left to do but pack up the decorations. I’d have to rate it as a pretty good Christmas. I think I managed to stick to a fairly tight budget, and despite a few arguments with Lay, we wound up with everyone getting something they really enjoyed. I got my shopping and gift wrapping done well ahead of time this year. The decorations were up right after Thanksgiving, and the Christmas Cards went out just after that, so I never felt rushed or hectic.
Read moreThat’s right folks. The good christian people at Focus on the Family don’t want schools to have effective anti-bullying campaigns because they want to be sure their kids can continue to beat up kids who are or are perceived to be gay. Oh they try to dress it up in nice words saying they want safe schools for everyone, but if you go around and tell kids it’s not OK to beat up the gay kids, then you’re teaching them that being gay is OK.
Read moreI’ve been busy, and less than motivated lately when it comes to posting, but I want to get back in the groove. So look for some upcoming movie reviews and a new series called, “Say It To My Face.”
Read moreAn underwater photographer was peacefully cruising along a reef when this speedy octopus snaked out an arm and grabbed his Lumix away. The cephalopod then proceeded to jet away at top speed, while filming the whole thing — unfortunately, with more than a couple of its thumbs covering the lens.
Read moreYou’ll recall a brief post last week about a guy who got hit by a car, which knocked him in front a bus, which hit him. Well, we have a guy run over by a Suburban after he left the cardiac unit of a hospital to go smoke a cigarette, and another guy who got shot and killed the day after he got out of jail.
Read moreAnd you thought your day was bad. An unidentified person in Tampa had about the worst day a person can have. He was apparently trying to cross Nebraska Avenue, one of the busier streets here in town, and he got hit by a car. Now that would be bad enough, but apparently the car knocked him into one of the HART buses. Not surprisingly, he’s in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital. It would be like something out of a cartoon if it happened for real.
Read moreOver at One News Now (an ultra-conservative non-news outlet), they published another story this week trying to refute the idea of Global Warming, with what may be the most absurd argument yet. Christians are called to believe that the earth is the creation of God and is a gift given to humans for our care and nurturing. I believe that responsible Christians are especially called on to protect the environment and all in it. So why have so many so-called Christian Leaders and Organizations seen fit to argue over the nuances of data collection instead of concerning themselves with the deterioration of the environment and the ever increasing cost of energy? To whom are they beholding?
