Convention Poll

The professional pundits had more than enough analysis of how the respective 2012 political conventions went. Obviously we hosted the Republicans here in Tampa, and it would have been fine with me if they’d stayed home. I will write more about all that later this week. It was a disaster for downtown Tampa businesses, and the security was simply over the top. But for now, we’re posting a quick poll for you.

Legitimate Rape?

So there’s tons of furor over Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-DB)(Doucebag) comments about how, in the case of a “legitimate” rape, a woman can’t get pregnant. There’s plenty there to be furious over, but he’s vowed to stay in. And he’s still leading his opponent. That’s because lots people (even some of the ones who have been distancing themselves from Akin) actually believe some of the bullshit he’s let slip out.

We Don’t Need No Firemen

Last week the President made a poor choice of words in talking about how the private sector was adding jobs, while the public sector was laying off. He said, “the private sector is doing fine.” Of course it’s not overall, but what he meant was that, in comparison to the public sector, it’s better. Faux News and the media have been all over, but barely giving any coverage to Mitt Romney’s response. Romney’s response ought to be far more damaging, and more telling about what he thinks of the middle class, as he suggested we shouldn’t hire more cops, firefighters or teachers.

Consider Me A Native of El Bethel

Since the Mayor gave Newt (serial adulterer, family values, thrice married, marriage is between one man and three women) Gingrich a key to the City today, consider me a native of El Bethel. Bad enough my Old Home State is trying to write discrimination into the State’s Constitution, now they are turning over the key to one of the sleeziest people to ever come out of Washington, D.C. And all this on the day he was ending his campaign anyways.

Ah For the Good Old Days of Julia Sugarbaker

I know some of you will remember the show “Designing Women,” and especially the rants of one of the lead characters, Julia Sugarbaker. Someone has taken the time to hitch together a segment of Michele Bachman and one of Julia’s rants, and the results are pretty good. Boy how would love for someone like Julia Sugarbaker to actually call out some of these Republican candidates, especially Bachman. So, it’s as true today as it was back when the program was new, so enjoy this clip….

Remember This When you Head Out to Vote

As you head out to vote tomorrow (if you haven’t already, I’d suggest watching this. It’s about remembering which party took a record surplus and turned it into a record deficit, which party thinks the rich need tax cuts, and that big corporations don’t have enough freedom to pollute and send us contaminated food. Remembering which party wants to end Social Security, and which party started a needless war in Iraq, and which party was in power when Wall Street was given a no-strings-attached bailout.

Who are you voting for in 2010

We’ve got a new poll up at Deep Something asking who you are planning to vote for (or who you voted for) by party. We just want to know if you are voting mostly for one party or the other, going independent, or sitting this one out. The President and Democrats are working hard to motivate the base, but frankly they are scrambling because they clearly blew off the progressive wing of the party for the past two years, in some cases being verbally dismissive, and the “chickens have come home to roost.”

New Tea Party Poll at Deep Sand

We’ve added a poll today asking what you think about the Tea Party. Some people involved claim it’s non-partisan, and is a purely grass-roots organization of disaffected voters. There is some evidence that it is an astroturf group sponsored by big business to help them advance their aims (I’m looking at you David Koch), and some folks believe it is definitely a part of the Republican Party. Let us know what you think.

Christine O'Donnell Wants a Seat in the Senate And To Stop Everyone From Having Sex

It appears that little Ms. “I dabbled in witchcraft” says she wants to stop everyone from having sex. This from the lady who’s claimed publicly to have had sex on a satanic altar. Personally, she would just be a side-show idiot, were people not willing to vote for her to sit in a seat in the Senate of the United States of America. She’s a Palin favorite, but that comes as no surprise, since, like Sara, she just makes up the truth as she goes along.
