I Guess I'm No Longer A Person Of Faith

I was saddened this week to learn that, by definition of U.S. Senator (and Senate Majority Leader) Dr. Bill (I’ll diagnose you via videotape for a nominal contribution….ahhhh…I mean fee) Frist, and the Family Research Council, I am no longer a person of faith. That may be true. My lifelong allegience to Christianity is certainly being challenged by the Krazy Kristian Kooks, and if being a person of faith means relinquishing my rights and freedoms to the Kooks…then I withdraw my membership.

Ratzinger was essentially the right hand man to John Paul, who appointed most of the College of Cardinals. I thought this guy was the heir-apparent all along. Like Bush, John Paul wasn’t ready to go.

The Death of John Paul

Pope John Paul II has died. I’m not Catholic (nor am I one of the many ?former/recovering? Catholics), and I don’t have particularly strong feelings about this particular pope. But seeing the crowd gathered in St Peters Square has caused me to develop some thoughts on the history of the church and John Paul’s place in it.

Holy Week Reflections

This is of course Holy Week for Christians around the world. I suppose it should be a time of reflection, and I’ve done some thinking about my feelings. I have to be frank, in face of the egregious distortions amd misuse of Jesus and the Christian message, it becomes more and more difficult to hold on to my “religion.”
