McConnell And Ryan – Douche Bags of the Day
They aren’t worth the ink to give them two awards, and besides, they’re receiving the award since they are both involved in the same scam of the American Taxpayer…well, one of their many and most recent. After passing a $1,500,000,000,000.00 ($1.5 Trillion) dollar tax cut that went to the wealthiest Americans and big corporations, they now claim that Social Security and Medicare need to be cut to cover that deficit. According to a report on MSN.com:
“It’s disappointing but it’s not a Republican problem,” McConnell said of the deficit, which grew 17 percent to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018. McConnell explained to Bloomberg that “it’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future.” The deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015.
Let’s just point out that the deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015. So yeah Mitch, it’s a Republican problem. Federal revenue rose by only 0.04 percent in 2018, a nearly 100 percent decrease over 2017’s 1.5 percent. In the fiscal year 2018, tax receipts on corporate income fell to $205 billion from $297 billion in 2017. But of course, it has nothing to do with the tax cuts and their military spending increases. It’s the majority of taxpayers who are, apparently, takers. Those people who work their entire life paying into Social Security and Medicare who are breaking the budget. Again, from MSN.com:
The debt, McConnell said, was very “disturbing” and driven by “the three big entitlement programs that are very popular, Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid…There’s been a bipartisan reluctance to tackle entitlement changes because of the popularity of those programs. Hopefully, at some point here, we’ll get serious about this.”
“We’re going to have to get back next year at entitlement reform, which is how you tackle the debt and the deficit,” Speaker Ryan said on a conservative radio program around the same time.
Despite having been in the Senate and House so long, either these two are idiots and don’t have a clue how these programs work or are counting on the ignorance of their supporters to believe their bullshit. So for either their benefit or the benefit of you Trump supporters, let me explain. Social Security and Medicare are paid for separately from Federal Income Tax. Don’t believe me, look at your pay stub. Now, the Social Security Trust Fund is coming up short, but that’s because previous Republican Congresses and Administrations have “borrowed” most of the money in the trust fund…they maxed out the credit card, and now the bank is calling. But at least for now, those programs already pay for themselves.
As a friend of mine posted, “When McConnell calls the increased federal borrowing “very disturbing,” as he did this morning, it’s like watching an arsonist wring his hands over the ashes he created.”
The $1.5 trillion went missing from corporate and personal taxes the wealthiest used to pay, and that was for “discretionary spending.” Here’s 2018’s discretionary spending:
So, now you tell me which one of these pieces of pie can most afford to take some cuts over my mother, your mother, and uncle? And for you Trumpettes who are still drinking the Koolaid, this is going to hit most of you the most. That’s right. I know you think they’ll just take these programs away from Black and Brown people, but I promise they are also coming for your Social Security benefits as well. And for all you Trump supporters, just remember this…while he was on the campaign trail, your hero Donald Trump promised to leave Social Security and Medicare untouched. So I have to ask, when are you all going to get tired of being played for fools?
