2020 Election – Hillsborough County Commission District 1

This entry is part 6 of 9 in the series 2020 Election

Democrat Harry Cohen and Republican Scott Levinson are vying for this seat. I did not get a call from Levinson, but I did hear from Harry Cohen. In fact, that’s not the first time we’ve talked. Cohen did a couple of terms as my district representative on the City Council, and I met with him once to discuss a range of issues resulting from a bad performing developer on a residential home being built across the street. I brought a lot of information including a markup to the city noise ordinance with suggested changes that would improve enforcement at construction sites. Several months later, the City Council passed most of the suggested changes…so Harry gets a big plus from me on that.

He’s also a policy wonk. He makes sure he knows what he’s talking about, and he will have thought through any proposals he makes, and he takes the long view. Overall, he’s a decent guy and works hard for his constituents.

So for Hillsborough County Commission District 1, I’m recommending Harry Cohen.
