Read moreBy any objective standard, this administration is a dismal failure and has made a mockery of all the things I love about America. Things like fair elections, habeus corpus, privacy, separation of church and state, care for the less fortunate, protecting our homeland, respecting the environment, curbing the power of corporations, standing for human rights, transparency in government, respect for our military, and so many many more. Bush is steering our country back to the pre-New Deal rich-man’s playground of the Robber Baron era, while simultaneously squandering any post-9/11 worldwide goodwill and alienating what few allies we have left.
Read moreI thought I would make this post about Katrina, and try to move on to other things. It is a horrible disaster, and we all need to know what is going on, and understand how over government agencies are (or are not) responding to this disaster. That being said, I think there’s some fatigue to all the coverage.
Read moreI can’t say enough about this article, and its call to true Christians to reject the regligious zealots, and turn America away from becoming a theocracy.
Read moreWell, I guess it was just a matter of time before gay people were blamed by the wingnuts for the destruction of New Orleans by Katrina. “Repent America” now has an article on their website blaming it all on the fact that New Orleans welcomed sin. An organization of Christian fundamentalists, Repent America claims the destruction brought on by Hurricane Katrina is God’s judgment against New Orleans for holding festivals like the Southern Decadence party.
Read moreThe chief wingnut himself, Pat Robertson, is now calling on the U.S. Government to assasinate the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.
Read moreIn a Washington Post Op/Ed piece, Gary Bauer, president of American Values and chairman of Campaign for Working Families, has gone after Republican Senata Majority Leader Bill Frist over Frist’s change of heart to support federal funding for stem cell research. In typical wingnut fashion, Bauer basis his attack on the right wing’s “pro-life” belief. However, it appears to me that the right wing is interested only in protecting “unborn” life, and could give a good goddamned about the rest of us who are already living and breathing.

He said, ‘Dad, I ain’t got nobody to take to the prom because all the girls in my class are gay.” Guess what? This man of the cloth is breaking Commandment #9: “Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness.”
Read moreWell, the theocrats had their meeting Sunday. All the big names were there: Dobson, Perkins, DeLay, Zell Miller and Phyllis Schlafly. Doesn’t that group just evoke the concept of justice? From the articles, there seemed to be an increased amount of venom aimed at gays. Are they worried John Roberts is soft on homos?
Read more“Politically and culturally speaking, Phelps and his protesters serve as a crude caricature of pro-family traditionalists who oppose the normalization of homosexuality. Fred makes an easy target for the media and secularists who are tempted (partly by their own prejudices) to paint any opposition to “gay rights” as hateful. For this reason, I have sometimes wondered if Phelps and his lawyerly clan are ‘gay plants.’
Read moreWell, his imminence, James Dobson has pinned it down. He now knows how to recognize if your child is “becoming” gay, and he can figure it out in pre-adolescence. And on top of that, he advises that fathers and sons shower together to “cure” boys from those tendencies. (I’ll swear, is that not a porn movie script.) I am not making this up. Its on his website.
