Vino e Pasta – Restaurant Review

Well, this is another of the few 5-star ratings I’ve given. This small restaurant is only a few blocks from the house and has been there the entire time we lived here. We just never went, and frankly, we are both mad that it took so long. We kept saying we needed to try it, and a Groupon came up for it, so that was the incentive.

They have more seating than expected, but it is a small place. We didn’t have a reservation, but it was a Thursday evening and early, so that wasn’t a problem. (I’d expect you might want one for later, especially on weekends.)

We started with their calamari and zucchini. We both agreed it was the second best we’ve ever had (A Thai place in Las Vegas has the world’s greatest.) I’ve never had any so tender. The breading was light and perfectly cooked. Lay ordered their Seafood Linguini, and it was spectacular. Lots of clams and the pasta was cooked perfectly and lightly sauced with a great sauce. I had the best lasagna I have ever had in their “Princess” sauce. It was very unique. Even the bread was outstanding.

The service was impeccable.

When we were first seated, Lay’s immediate reaction was, “I don’t like it.” It was a tad formal for us, but not overly so. I wouldn’t go in sweat clothes, but we were certainly not “dressed up.” By the end of the mean, he decided this was the second-best meal we’d ever had (the best being at a Thai restaurant in Toronto).

If I were to ding them on anything, it was that there were only a few tables occupied when we came in, yet we were seated right beside another table. That wouldn’t have mattered, but the guy at the table talked loud, and I don’t know when he ate anything, given that we never heard him shut up.

Do yourself a favor, and give this place a try.
