Kansas Sen Steve Fitzgerald – Douche Bag of the Day

This entry is part 40 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

Well, Senator Fitzgerald came to our attention when he was mentioned in an article about yesterday’s Douche Bag of the Day winner. Fitzgerald went on an all too common rant on the Kansas Senate Floor about the “Gay Agenda,” as his argument for a bill allowing funding to adoption agencies that object to placing children with LGBT couples.

Republican Tom Cox of KS – Douche Bag Award Winner

This one is just kind of outside our usual realm of notice, but we decided his action was just deplorable enough to warrant recognition with our Douche Bag of the Day award. Republican Tom Cox is a member of the Kansas house of Representatives representing the Shawnee-Lake Quivira district of good old KS, and he underhandedly changed his vote to make it possible for adoption agencies in KS to receive state funds AND discriminate against LGBT people.

Another Gun Argument – The Jews Argument

This entry is in the series Guns

Someone I’m friends with on Facebook shared a post by someone I don’t know named, Monica Bailey. The post is one of those with the photo of all the shoes of Jews from one of the death camps. We saw a display of these at the Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg a couple of years ago, and it is heart-wrenching. But, of course nothing is reaching too low for the gun nuts, so that whole pile of shoes is just the result of the Jews giving up their guns to Hitler.

Brian Brown – Douche Bag of The Day

This entry is part 7 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

I didn’t go back and look, but it is likely Brian has received our award before. He is, after all, head of the infamous “National Organization for Marriage (NOM) (an SPLC designated hate group). We decided to recognize Brian this time for his heretical efforts to make himself relevant again (and get some money flowing), by using Christ and Easter. Brian claims he’s as persecuted and Jesus was.

No Gun Control Unless You Are Anti-Choice

This entry is part 10 of 13 in the series Guns

And here’s one of the latest anti-gun control arguments I was presented with today. Apparently, my opinion on the steps I thought might help reduce the gun carnage in America doesn’t count unless I’m willing to certify that I am against abortion. Are those people fucking serious? I mean did the guy who tried that not have a clue about how easy that would be to stand on its head?

Rep. Tim Murphy – Douche-Bag of The Day

This entry is part 8 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

If Republicans have any real principles, it is hypocrisy. They never seem to have any problem accepting money to advance whatever culture war issue or policy and imposing it on everyone else, while doing just the opposite in their personal lives. It seems that Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), couldn’t avoid a little adultery, and some violation of the “sanctity of the unborn child.”

Pat Robertson – Douche-bag of the Day

This entry is part 9 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

Pat Robertson is yet another of those folks who could make a daily appearance on the Douche Bag of The Day channel, instead, he plys his BS on CBN. The latest is his attempt to blame the Las Vegas shooting on disrespect for his butt-buddy, Donald Trump (there’s an image I’ll have trouble getting out of my mind) and the National Anthem.

Benham Bros – Douche Bags of the Day

This entry is part 36 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

I suppose it will come as no surprise to anyone that these two will wind up with multiple DBoTD awards. Along with a number of other fundamentalist nut-jobs, these two are blaming Irma and 9/11 on LGBT people.

Julie Gunlock – Douche Bag of the Day

This entry is part 35 of 54 in the series Daily Douche-Bag

I haven’t been awarding these much lately, well, because with the Trump Administration, there would be just too many ties each day. But I thought that Julie Gunlock, senior fellow at the Independent Women’s Forum, deserved special recognition for some things she said on a recent edition of Fox and Friends.

Stepping Into The Confederate Statue Debate

Well, I suppose it won’t come as a surprise to anyone that I’m going to step into the debate about Confederate statues. It has obviously become something of a lightening rod after the incidents in Charlottesville, VA last weekend. I am seeing what too often happens, and it started with Trump’s tweets. There is this effort to try to claim there are two-sides to this, and that everyone is at fault, so the White Supremacists are not at fault…or something like that.

Southern Baptists and the Alt-Right

By now, it’s pretty obvious that conservative evangelicals and the white supremacist movement (alt-right) are kith and kin. They have crawled into bed with right-wing politicians, and are the prime supporters of what remains of the Republican Party. It is no longer about religion with this group, but all about the politics, and a dark politics it is.
