Autumn and The Canon

Many people prefer Spring, but I prefer Autumn. As said by Albert Camus, “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf’s a flower.” Here are two of my most favorite things…beautiful Autumn scenes set to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. We did have a cool night last Thursday night, but not many other signs of Autumn here in Florida. As an Appalachian State University Alum, I know a thing or two about a beautiful Fall. Even down the mountain in Kings Mountain, it’s still a beautiful time of the year.

The Lord Bless You and Keep You

This is the Choir of Saint Paul Cathedral performing John Rutter’s, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.” This was from the Jubilee Celebration in 2002 for Queen Elizabeth. As the song concludes with “and give you peace,” you can’t help but feel a sense of peace settle over you. It’s a beautiful performance. I hope you enjoy it, and that you are blessed in the week approaching.

Just a Calm Moment for The End of The Week

This is Choir of the St. Paul Cathedral doing “For The Beauty of The Earth.” I think too many Christians have forgotten that we are charged with the care of keeping of God’s creation, and especially here in America, we are prone to merely exploit what we’ve been given. We are forever changing our planet by the choices we’ve made, and we’d better start to figure out to take better care of what God has given us to sustain us.

Christine O'Donnell Wants a Seat in the Senate And To Stop Everyone From Having Sex

It appears that little Ms. “I dabbled in witchcraft” says she wants to stop everyone from having sex. This from the lady who’s claimed publicly to have had sex on a satanic altar. Personally, she would just be a side-show idiot, were people not willing to vote for her to sit in a seat in the Senate of the United States of America. She’s a Palin favorite, but that comes as no surprise, since, like Sara, she just makes up the truth as she goes along.

Alan Grayson's New Congressional Ad

Unfortunately Alan Grayson is not my representative in Congress, but I sure wish he was. I don’t have anything against Cathy Kastor, my current representative, except that she’s the typical milquetoast Democrat. Alan Grayson doesn’t mind speaking truth to power, and he calls out the talibangelist views of his tea bagger opponent in this ad. And this guy has tried to pass some of his extreme religious views into law in Tallahassee. Democrats should take note, this is how the game has to be played for now.

And Another Cause of The Gay

And the crazy continues with Alex Jones, nationally syndicated “libertarian” radio host. Jones says it’s our juice boxes. Jones claims he has the documents to prove that it’s a chemical warefare action by our government. They’re putting estrogen in the pastic lining of juice boxes, and apparently in lime flavored soda, to encourage homosexuality to lower the birth rate. We didn’t have juice in boxes when I was growing up, but who knew all that Juicy Juice was preparing kids for a lifetime of tasteful decorating choices and? sunday brunches?

Town, The – A Movie Review

Doug MacRay is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang’s latest job, when they briefly took a hostage–bank manager, Claire Keesey. Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug not realizing that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorized her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path.

The Optimism of The Child

The following is the 1st place winner from the European Film School. It was directed by Isabel Prahl and produced by Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany. Charles Darwin wrote, “If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin.” And today, in our country, a move is afoot to neuter the social safety net that we worked so hard to develop, to ensure a comfortable place for everyone.

Quran Burning and The Silliness That's Florida

Apparently Terry Jones (I refuse to use the Reverend honorific for a person like this) of the Dove World Center in Gainesville has flown to New York, and won’t be burning in Quran’s. In the process, he finally got his 15 minutes of fame for he and the loser that is his Associate Paster, and created even more division in America…but hey, he managed to get what he wanted…attention.

GlennBeckapalooza – Showing America They're Not Crackpots

Earlier this week I was sent one of those emails where you check the stuff you’ve done, then send it to a bunch of friends. One of the questions was, “Have you ever seen something so beautiful it took your breath away?” I answered yes. I’ve seen it a couple of times, but in this case, I have to say it is absolute frightening idiocy that takes away my breath. People who have no discernible contact with any version of reality known to most of us, believe they have the answers to what ails America. People who are told what to think by the corporate astro-turfers, and believe a crackpot Mormon convert is the second coming. And they want to take America back…back to where…a happier time. What does that mean?
